An agricultural expert, Mr. Patrick Ugwumba, has advocated the consumption of organic foods for healthy lifestyles for longevity.

He also said plant-based foods and organically produced foods are environment and human-friendly while providing tips on foods for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs).

Ugwumba, at the training of food stakeholders in Lagos, said there have been more deaths due to cardiovascular diseases of people under 70 years of age, especially in developing countries.

“As part of a healthy diet, eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, fiber-rich whole grains, fish (preferably oily fish at least twice per week), nuts, legumes, and seeds and try eating some meals without beef,” he advised.

e added that carrots are rich in beta-carotene and other carotenoids and have been proven to help reduce stroke. I must recommend that they should eat carrots, take them as snacks and add them to fruits and vegetables and other foods.
