Motor, bike show to rev up investment opportunities in Nigeria

Tophorn Nigeria Limited, owner of Grill2Grill auto show, has concluded plans to host a ‘one – of – its-kind’ exhibition that will open up investment opportunities in Nigeria and position Lagos as leading destination in Africa.

Chief Executive Officer of the organisation, Dapo Otunla, briefing newsmen about the fair in Lagos, said that the show will connect culture with automotive and showcase classic cars, super cars, muscle cars and motorbikes, which were iconic and extraordinary.

He said: “We are creating a platform where unique car and bike owners in Nigeria and in Lagos in particular can come out and exhibit their prized possessions   and share them with members of the public on second and third of April.”

He explained that the event, which holds at the Tafawa Balewa Square, would also remained a yearly exhibition that would attract people from across the world to Lagos to showcase the vibrant outlook of the city as a foremost destination in Africa and open up investment opportunities in the sector.

“The two-day event will showcase an assembly of about 70 cars and 20 motorbikes that are rare and unique, giving guests close access in a way they may not have experienced before,” Otunla stated.

According to him, Nigeria is a country that has cars and bikes ingrained in the fabric of its culture and remains a relevant market for automobile, the organisation therefore plans to reinstate and emphasise the culture by creating an exciting environment where owners and collectors of rare and interesting automobiles will showcase their cars and bikes.

Expected at the show are epoch cars, which include MG Midget, produced in 1977, Dodge Challenger, 2008 model, Lotus Elise, which was conceived in 1994, Mercedes 220 SE Coupe convertible, produced in 1965, Volkswagen Beetle.
“We always say we don’t have a culture of maintenance in Nigeria but the fact that a lot of these cars have been preserved uniquely over the years clearly state that that culture of maintenance is alive and well,” Otunla said.
