Firm launches app to reduce transport challenge in Lagos

A new application has been introduced by IWorld Transit Services Limited, aimed at reducing transportation challenge and provide job for members of the Lagos State Taxi Cab Association.

The transportation booking application tagged, Soole, was introduced to ease transport challenges by decongesting roads in Lagos, Group Managing Director of the firm, Charles Ojo, said while unveiling the initiative.

Unlike other applications, the platform will offer ride-sharing, shuttle and charter services and allow users negotiate cost of service as well as chose from a range of cab services including standard, deluxe and executive categories.

“The services are not charged per hour and all payment for now is made electronically through the app. This alone authenticates the services and the status of the driver.

“The over 400 cabs under the Taxi services can be located in any part of Lagos State. The app shows you the driver’s details. All registered drivers are screened and identified with their various parks. We are starting operations with Lagos, but in due course, the services will be extended to Ibadan, Port Harcourt, Abuja and other major cities in Nigeria.

“The cab service covers every Nigerian, it is offered in standard, deluxe and executive categories. Irrespective of class, the firm observed at any point in time over 10 million Lagosians move for various reasons in the state,” Ojo said.

The ride sharing service, which is also known as car-pooling, allows professionals in Lagos to commute on weekdays from home to work and vice versa.

Ojo said the initiative is the best thing that could happen to professionals, since details were verified under stringent conditions to ensure safety and security.

He disclosed that the firm was working with the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), to expand the services with more cabs.

The General Secretary of Lagos State Taxi Cab Association, Taiwo Omole, said the app was long overdue. Omole reiterated that over 400 members of the association had been trained on the use of the app, adding that each of the drivers belonged to the over 287 taxi parks in the state.
