A leading Chinese automaker, GAC Motor has released its best-selling Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) in the Nigerian market, the GS4.The unveiling, which took place in Lagos, attracted dignitaries, including the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, representatives of the state government, the Chinese Consul General in Nigeria, Chao Xiaoliang and a host of others.

Speaking on the features of the product, the General Manager GAC Motor, Yu Jun, said: “GS4 was created with the company’s best technologies and global resources and released worldwide at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in 2015.

According to him, “The SUV was designed following an innovative light and shadow the 2.0 design concept represents the highest level of innovation and international quality.”

He added that GAC Motors has stayed in tune with the world since day one of its establishment, adhering to original design and international standards in building the world-class automobile manufacturing system. This centres on GAC Motor’s global research and development network with the support of strong production capacities and global supply chain.

He explained that the vehicle is powered by the world leading engines and provides large spaces, elegant exterior design and low fuel consumption “GAC Motors have sold more than 427, 000 GS4 cars in China, as the fastest growing vehicle model in the year and half after official release in the market,” he said.

On how it intends to benefit the Nigerian market, Jun said, “Instead of importing the product directly from China, the GS4 to be sold in the country would be locally assembled. GAC Motor’s SKD Project in Nigeria was put in operation in November and first batch of cars were successfully assembled.”

He noted that the vehicle’s launch in Nigeria not only reinforces the brand in the country’s market, but also paves the way for the company to further expand in the African markets
