Europe and Africa’s fastest growing transportation service, Bolt, has rallied the Nigerian public to give to the needy during recent Ramadan period.

Bolt riders in Lagos and Abuja, joined in a mass collection effort aimed at bringing hope to the less fortunate by donating clothes, canned food items, toiletries and other non-perishable goods.

The public were able to donate using a special category on the Bolt app on Wednesday, May 29. Drivers arrived at the pickup locations and collected donations free of charge.

Over 1000 clothes and hundreds of food items and toiletries were donated and delivered to SOS Children’s Villages in Isolo, Lagos and various IDP camps across Abuja.

In a statement by the National Fund Development and Communication Coordinator at the SOS Children’s village, Gboyega Fadowole-Aje, he commended Bolt for their partnership and support towards contributing in enriching the lives of children and young people in the programme of SOS Children’s Villages Nigeria and expressed hope that this would continue.

“This campaign was designed so that people across the country could help those in need without worrying about traffic or how to donate. At Bolt, we are committed to making urban transportation easier and more accessible to everyone and with this campaign, we are glad to have united people across Nigeria to make a difference in their communities,” Okafor said.
