Entries open for PwC media awards

Entries are now open for the fourth edition of PwC Media Excellence Awards. The awards, which celebrate excellence in business reporting in Nigeria, is open to journalists who have produced stories that fall within the categories covered by the award and that is available on a platform whose primary audience is Nigeria. Submissions will close on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 with the award gala night slated to hold on Friday October 4, 2019.

In a statement from the firm, the Senior Partner PwC Nigeria, Uyi Akpata, “the media is critical to building trust in society and in advancing the economy and this informs our sustained effort over the years to empower journalists across all channels to improve the quality of their work. For six years now, we have annually hosted and provided free training to journalists through our annual capability enhancement workshops while also rewarding excellence through the annual awards which is now in its fourth year.

“We are very proud to launch this 2019 edition. As has been the trend, this edition will be even bigger and better packaged as we aim to continue creating sustainable impact and making a clear difference through this important initiative. We look forward to receiving the entries and celebrating the impressive work being done by journalists in Nigeria.”

The statement further indicates that entries will be received in four categories including tax, capital markets, SMEs and business/economy reporting. All submissions would be done online through the firm’s website at www.pwc.com/ng/media-awards.

A panel of professionals with extensive knowledge and experience in the subjects are expected to judge the entries.

Winners in each category will receive a cash prize of N500, 000 with top entries recognised and rewarded. Interested participants should follow the firm’s social media pages for directions on how to enter.
