Chief Executive Officer, Richland Academy, Dawaki, FCT, Mrs. Erinma Ugbor, has stressed the importance of exposing pupils to Information Communication Technology (ICT) and literacy skills early in the educational sojourn.

Ugbor, who spoke with journalists yesterday in Abuja at the sidelines of the school’s maiden graduation and prize-giving ceremony of the school, Ugbor noted that early childhood education was crucial to human development.

“Indeed, early years and primary education is the foundation years during which children develop good study habits, moral values, reflective abilities, self-discipline and the basic learning skills in literacy and ICT,” she stated.

Ugbor continued, “We all know that early years’ foundation is very important; what you do not teach a child between the ages of six months and six years, the child will find it difficult to acquire it later.

She informed that in view of this realisation, the school has put in place adequate measures to ensure that the benefits of a balanced curriculum are derived, even as it strives to create a professional learning environment for the pupils and teachers.

Founded in 2014 but became operational in January, 2016, the CEO said, “Since the establishment of our school, we have made continuous efforts to realise its vision and mission by nurturing, inspiring, educating our youngsters to become global citizens and innovative leaders of tomorrow.”
