Why pupils should be taught how to think critically’

The contemporary kids are living in a time of exceptional change and rapid technological advancement. A lot of disruption has set in, hence schools must teach its pupils analytical thinking.

Executive Director of Greensprings School, Mrs Lai Koiki, who stated this at the 34th anniversary of the school pointed out that the 21st century has witnessed tremendous growth and advancement in the education sector. Some of the major areas where changes have been recorded and implemented are centered on curriculum development, teaching methods and thinking skills.

Thus, any school that is not operating in line with these trends, she said are not adequately preparing the kids for the future.”Schools that have successfully introduced these set of analytical reasoning exercises as a part of their educational structures and are making effective use of them across all levels are referred to as ‘Thinking school.’ As we celebrate 34 years of providing impactful education in Nigeria and Africa, we are proud of our achievements over the years.

Besides opening a new campus and a special school, she recalled the success stories of her students who won special recognition awards in the IGCSE examination.

When asked about the plan for the school in the next 10 years. She replied that “There is talk about setting up a university; it is a dream, and our dreams do come true.”
