SUG, NUCJ organise maiden inter-faculty competition for students

Office of the Students Union Government (SUG), Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba (AAUA), in collaboration with the Nigerian Union of Campus Journalists (NUCJ), AAUA chapter has organised the maiden edition of its inter-faculty competition.

Office of the Students Union Government (SUG), Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba (AAUA), in collaboration with the Nigerian Union of Campus Journalists (NUCJ), AAUA chapter has organised the maiden edition of its inter-faculty competition.

The recently held event brought together students from the six faculties in the institution. At the end of the exercise, Faculty of Education won the first position with 37.3 points in the debate segment; while faculty of Social and Management Sciences came first with 12 points in the quiz segment.

In the debate segment, the first and second runners-up were the Faculty of Agriculture (32.3 points) and Faculty of Law (32 points) respectively.
In the quiz segment, the first and second runners-up were the Faculty of Arts with 10 points; and Faculty of Agriculture with eight points.

The event, co-hosted by Olamide Adewunmi and Emmanuel Ibikunle had in attendance, the keynote speaker and veteran journalist from Ondo State, Mr. Ayo Ogedengbe.Ogedengbe, in his address themed, “Gender inequality: Contemporary global analysis and debate,” said much work has to be done in speaking up against gender inequality.

NUCJ President, Olufemi Damilola, in his remarks, said, “I hereby recommend that the next elected NUCJ AAUA president and his executives with the incoming students’ union leaders should continue this idea.”
