Finding a job is one thing, but finding job satisfaction is something else.

Studying at Coventry University helped Nigerian graduate Oluwaseyifunmi Ogunranti find a job that she loves.

Find your path
Oluwaseyifunmi wanted a more defined career path after her degree and she wanted to travel, so she looked at her options with a study abroad consultant and talked to students on social media. I was looking for something I would enjoy doing and Coventry University presented me with numerous options,” she says.

In fact, Coventry University offers over 120 postgraduate courses, including qualifications at their London campus.

Global outlook
Travelling to study in another country is a big decision –Oluwaseyifunmi says, “I found out that student satisfaction was high and Coventry University has a large international community where I could quickly feel a sense of connection.”

Coventry University has been the number one university in England for student experience for seven consecutive years. The university has more than 11,000 international students from around 130 countries, with approximately 1,000 from Nigeria alone. The university’s impressive league table rankings, central location and student diversity also make it an attractive choice.

Find your course
Oluwaseyifunmi studied Petroleum & Environmental Technology MSc in the Faculty of Engineering, Environment and Computing. This faculty offers courses like Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Information Technology and Computer Science, as well as more specialised master’s and research programmes.

The Petroleum & Environmental Technology MSc course covers the technical operation of the petroleum industry, and some of the sector’s most important environmental issues – like oil spillages, climate change and renewable energies. The course was developed in collaboration with members of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and guest speakers have included the former Vice President of BP (Engineering) and a former President of SPE International.

“The highlights of my course were the two professional modules – Project Management and Occupational Safety,” says Oluwaseyifunmi. “They were the foundation for my first job as a Project Manager, my career as a Certified Occupational Safety and Health Specialist (COSHS) and the founder of FSVC Consulting.”

Today, Oluwaseyifunmi ensures that built environments are 100% safe for work, living and recreational activities and liaises with Facility Managers, insurance companies, School Managers and homeowners, to provide healthier and safer facilities. She says, “I love my job because it helps keep people safe and saves undue cost from accident and damage. Deciding to study at Coventry University was one of the best decisions I ever made.”
