The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) zone D, has urged its students to shun any form of protest called by the factional group. The union argued that the protest is a desperate move to cause unnecessary commotion and disunity among them.

In a statement by its south west zone coordinator, Olawale Samuel, the group said, “As focused leadership of the zone, our activities are not restricted to social media. Incessant blabbing, ranting and baseless denigrations on social media without physical actions or moves cannot yield positive results, that’s our belief.”

The students said they have engaged government officials at federal and state levels on how to make learning effective most especially in this trying time where it is difficult to make ends meet.

“The Federal ministry of education is not unaware of our recommendations and demands on virtual learning and some other progressive agitations we requested from the Federal Government. We sincerely appreciate the management of some tertiary institutions that have taken bold steps regarding the virtual learning,” they added.

They therefore enjoined the management of the institutions not to be strict with their students on the virtual learning programme.

“We understand the fact that not all students have the financial capacity to procure a smartphone or phones that can be connected to the internet. When it’s time to converge for deliberation on burning issues, the recognised leadership of the zone shall not hesitate to make it public. We sincerely appreciate your usual cooperation,” they said.
