The annual event, which will focus on sports, debate and other activities, is expected to have over 80 public and private schools in attendance.

Head of project, Holmes Inter-school Competition (HISC), Abiola Abraham Marshall, said HISC is a platform for nurturing, developing, discovering and giving opportunities for new talents to be unearted. He added that the competition is programmed and conceptualised in a manner that those participating in the debate will talk on issues affecting us as a nation. “So, we are encouraging the young ones to come up with issues and proffer solutions that will take us as a people to the next level.”

According to the company’s CEO and co-ordinator of HISC, Emeka Ikwuagwu, the programme is designed to “keep the young minds educationally and physically active while ensuring the preservation of our cultural heritage. Talents shall be exposed in this programme and we intend to foster unity amongst pupils and students as well as improve on their intellectual capacity. It will also serve as a platform to rate our teachers through the performances of these students and pupils. At the end of this competition, certificate of participation will be given, winners will be decorated with medals, award plagues given out to winners.

“We want to engage young ones, discover new talents and showcase them to the world. There is no criteria for selecting schools as long as these schools are registered and operating within Oshodi and Isolo. With time we tend to extend it to other states, starting from Abia.”
