‘Conducive school environment enhances learning, development’

Experts have stressed the importance of a conducive school atmosphere to effective learning and skill development.They noted that one of the best decisions a parent can take is laying the right foundation for his wards.

Co-Directors of Hampton Preparatory School, Lekki, Mrs. Kemi Balogun and Mrs. Linda Adeyemi-Hastrup disclosed this at a press conference to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the school.

Mrs Balogun with her over 27 years experience in education said the quality of a school premises, learning environment and resources are crucial to achieving academic success.

”In Hampton, it is sometimes a tug of war to get our children to go home at the end of each day because of the learning environment. Our approach to educating the whole child has allowed each child to benefit from a wide range of co-curricula activities. They are encouraged to learn two new languages apart from Mandarin and Spanish, which are compulsory.

Having studied and taught in the United Kingdom for decades, Balogun is determined to replicate the British school in Nigeria.She said: “Four key components make up a successful school and we strongly believe all the four are embedded within the fibre of our small exclusive school.

“The first is strong learning, the second is effective teaching, value oriented approach to the delivery of the curriculum as well as the quality of the school premises, learning environment and quality resources.”

She pointed out that the school’s effective curriculum delivery has enabled parents to look back at the academic year with a deep sense of satisfaction. Speaking on effective teaching, Balogun said the school has amazing team of qualified and specialist teachers ready to bring out the best in each child.
