APHEA accredits Liverpool’s varsity online MPH programme

The University of Liverpool’s online Master of Public Health (MPH) programme has been accredited by the Agency for Public Health Education Accreditation (APHEA).

A statement made available to The Guardian, showed that APHEA is a globally recognised accrediting body for masters-level public health programmes. It is in partnership with five other leading European public health associations, promoting quality education for public health professionals worldwide.

The accreditation provides the school’s online MPH graduates with the opportunity to gain a degree that employers would recognise as independently assessed, and meeting international quality standards.

According to the statement, “The accreditation process, which involved rigorous assessment of the online MPH across seven criteria, provides the essential competencies required by public health professionals worldwide, and the assessment was based in part on feedback from current students and teaching staff.”

Director of the MPH programme at the institution, Dr Francine Watkins, said, “APHEA accreditation is important for our students. It means they can gain a degree that is internationally recognised and with globally transferable skills.
“Our online MPH programme is essential for professionals working in health services, government agencies and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), we currently have students from over 100 countries studying at postgraduate level, gaining public health skills and knowledge without needing to take time out from their jobs so they can apply their new knowledge immediately into their practice.”

The programme is specifically designed for working professionals, as it enables students to enjoy an engaging, global and highly collaborative learning experience.
