With two weeks into the registration exercise for 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) nationwide, candidates have affirmed that the conduct has so far been seamless and stress free.

At the wake of the registration, the process was slow and scanty as a lot of centres had difficulty getting their access codes.

When The Guardian visited some of the centres in Lagos, activities were scanty, while some centres were idle. But in the new week, so much seems to have been achieved, as the candidates affirmed a hitch free exercise.

At the Knowledge Ware Technologies centre, Surulere, Lagos, the candidates said everything is going on as expected, as they are not facing any connectivity challenge.

Though the centre was a bit crowded, the director said most of them are friends and relatives of the applicants. “Not everybody are applicants, some of them accompanied their sibling, friend, son or daughter to the registration centre.”

But nothing seems to be happening at Duntro High School, Oremeji, Ijeshatedo, even in the second week, as the Director of the center, said they are still waiting for their access code from JAMB headquarter. “We are looking forward to Friday, January 24, to commence registration.”

At TFI Global Computer and Career Center, and Best Gift Comprehensive School, both in Ijegun, Lagos, the registration is going on smoothly with no difficulties encountered by both the staff and applicants.

“The candidates are cooperating with the regulation and it made the entire process of their registration easier. The procedure is going on smoothly, the network is fast, which means we are able to attend to a large number of students in a little amount of time. There are no difficulties at all. We have adequate computers, workers to attend to the numerous applicants,” says a director at the centre.

A candidate, who identified herself as Yetunde, said, “I came this morning by 9:00 a.m. and met a large number of applicants, but surprising, I finished my registration before 11:00 a.m. The procedure was not stressful and the process was fast.”

Another applicant said, “The only difficulty I faced was getting another email address and number to proceed with my registration. Asides from that, the process was hitch free, no connectivity issue.”

Also, at Bafuto Computer and Secretarial Centre, Ikotun, the Centre Administrator, Adekunle Banjo, expressed satisfaction with the registration exercise, saying that candidates are being attended to in methodical manner.

For this year’s examination, candidates only need to send their surname, first name and their middle name to 55019 with their registered mobile number to get their profile code. After this, they will collect the registration form from any of the accredited staff, and proceed to the payment section to purchase their unique code, collect their UTME novel and 2020 UTME e-brochure.

Once this is done, they will proceed to the registration section for profile and biometric capturing, before their registration slip will be handed over to them.
