Director lauds Ambode’s upward allocation to sector

Education Director, Mind Builders School, Lagos, Mrs. Bola Falore, has commended Lagos State governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, over his administration’s upward allocation to the education sector.

She made the remarks during the handover ceremony of the newly renovated block of classrooms at Olowora Nursery and Primary School. The renovation, which is the school’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), was also part of activities to mark its 20th anniversary.

She said, “Unlike most states in the federation who have repeatedly devoted less than 10 per cent of their annual budget to the education sector, Lagos State has consistently remained more committed than many other states. Records show that in year 2016 and 2017, the state devoted 17.11 per cent and 11.36 per cent to sector respectively, while in the ongoing year, the state has also devoted 12.14 per cent of its total budget of N1.04 trillion to education.”

“These statistics show beyond doubts that the state is very committed to ensuring that majority of its residents are well educated.”

Citing Ivan Welton Fitzwater’s quote, “that the future of the world is in my classroom today…” Falore asserted that if truly the future of the world is in the classroom, there is an urgent need to make the classrooms conducive forlearning.

“As a corporate entity and an education service provider, we understand the importance of learning in a child-friendly atmosphere and that was the reason ten years ago, when our school was celebrating 10th anniversary, we donated furniture worth N1 million to Ojodu Primary School.

“This year again, we just clocked 20 years and we are still very committed to ensuring that pupils learn under conducive environment, hence our decision to renovate a block of classrooms at Olowora Nursery and Primary School, Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, Lagos.
