Cross River partners NGO to transform literacy in Schools

Cross River State government has gone into partnership with Universal Learning Solution (ULS), a UK-based not-for-profit organisation, to deliver innovative training in Jolly Phonics to 550 primary school teachers and 1050 head teachers in the state, as part of effort to boost child literacy in the country.
 
Jolly Phonics is the world’s leading English language teaching tool, which uses synthetic phonics to dramatically improve early grade reading, through fun and engaging teaching and learning.

Synthetic phonics is recognised by authorities around the world as the best method of quickly and effectively teaching children to read and write. And it is having a huge impact in schools across the country by improving literacy.
 
In a statement, the chairman of SUBEB in the state, Mr. Dr Stephen Odey, said: “Jolly Phonics training has made tremendous impacts in our basic education sub-sector in Cross River State.
