Chrisland celebrates at 40, pledges academic excellence

Out of over 5,000 private schools in Lagos state, Chrisland schools has been rated one of the best by the state government through the Ministry of Education.

The Head of Quality Assurance and Executive Assistant, Mr. Oludotun Sotunde, disclosed this recently at a press conference to herald the school’s 40th anniversary celebration.

Sotunde said the recognition from the state government, would spur the management and staff to aim high for improved educational service delivery.

He disclosed that recently a former student, Emeka Uwalaka, received the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) award as third best in the May/June 2016 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) while Adeyinka Tajumode also came third best in the National Examinations Council (NECO) in the 2015/2016 period.

Chairperson of the 40th anniversary committee and Head Human Resources, Mrs. Ifeoma Orabueze, said the school, which started in 1977, has given birth to 11 others including a university at Abeokuta.

She disclosed that several activities have been lined up for the anniversary such as book launch/lecture, staff award, valedictory services and thanksgiving service stating that each event would attract old students and stakeholders.

“Thirst for excellence has been keeping the school on its feet. Anytime we are faced with hiccups, we look at the areas of challenges and organize seminars to address them. We also expose our staffs to lots of development happening in the educational sector around the world in order not to be left behind. We are opened to creativity and innovations, we think out of the box; we strive for the best in everything we do.

“I will also attribute our success story to efforts from the management and the teachers and also the training and the retraining program put in place by the school, constantly teachers are trained within and outside the country to be exposed to new pedagogy in education in other countries.
