Ashiru, others celebrate medical scholar Ayodeji Femi-Pearce
An illustrious man, academic clinician, an epitome of Sartorial elegance and an Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR), Prof. Ayodeji Femi-Pearse (OFR), has passed on in the evening of Friday, December 28, 2018, he was 86 years old.
Prof. Femi-Pearse commenced his career at the General Hospital, Lagos, served meritoriously at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) and College of Medicine where he balanced his academic pursuits with medical practice.
The distinguished medical scholar was instrumental in the establishment of the Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM).
At LUTH, he served the medical community in various capacities from Head of the Department of Medicine to Provost of the College of Medicine and Chief Medical Director of LUTH as well as acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos during the Unilag Crisis of 1981.
Between 1999 and 2003, Prof. Femi-Pearse was the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council of the Lagos State University (LASU).
Prof. Femi-Pearse embarked on an entrepreneurial career after retirement.
He co-founded and managed Whispering Palms Resort with his beloved wife, Ibilola. His demise comes months after the transition of his dear wife, Ibilola.
Children and grandchildren survive him. May the Lord be with his family and grant him peaceful ascent.
