anitation exercise holds tomorrow with restriction
THE MONTHLY Environmental Sanitation Exercise for the month of June will be observed on Saturday, June 27, 2015 through out the State with total restriction of human and vehicular movement between the hours of 7am -10am.
Engr. Hakeem Ogunbambi, Permanent Secretary, the Ministry of the Environment, advised Lagosians to actively participate in the exercise, as it was not held last month, due to the nationwide inauguration ceremonies.
He stressed the importance of a clean and hygienic environment to the promotion of the tourism and economic potentials of the state and urged Lagosians to clean their homes, drains and their entire environment.
“We Lagosians should clean our general environment and be mindful of our drains as we are now in the peak of the rainy season.
“The global climatic condition has continuously affected rainfall patterns across the world and as such coastal cities like Lagos are prone to flooding, which explains why we have intensified our mid rain deflooding programme that consists of continuous dredging, cleaning and maintenance of drainage channels across the state,” he said.
