Ambode urges Muslims to show more love, care during holy month

Governor Ambode has enjoined all Muslims to show more love and care to self and others, by giving generously and serving humanity selflessly in this holy month.

He however, promised that his administration would continue to implement, programmes and projects much in line with the spirit of Ramadan and would continue to provide these selfless services to bring greater development, improve quality of lives among all Lagosians and enhance safety and security to bring greater progress to the state

While delivering his Goodwill Message at Special Prayer (Tasfir) in the State House, Alausa, Ikeja, before commencement of Ramadan, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode reiterated his determination to deepen initiatives that “will elevate the condition of the underprivileged and sustain the atmosphere of peaceful coexistence and religious harmony in Lagos. “

He stated further that, his administration “is determined to touch the lives of every Lagosians, with oriented projects and programmes; “
Ambode reiterated that he would extend his infrastructural and other developmental programmes to all the nooks and crannies of the State, while striving to banish poverty and suffering in the State.

The Commissioner, Ministry of Home Affairs, Dr. AbdulHakeem AbdulLateef, lauded the governor for implementing unrivalled programmes and policies that have brought unprecedented development to the State, and thereby making Lagos free of religious or ethnic violence since assuming office in 2015.

He called on Muslims and all Lagosians to collect their Permanent Voters Cards (PVC’s) and vote generously during the election, to preserve Ambode’s good legacies and sustain good governance that Lagosians “are currently experiencing.”

AbdulLateef urged Muslims and clerics especially to step up on their prayers for Ambode and Lagos State, saying spiritual leaders remained important partners for togetherness to help in the acceleration of developmental objectives of the State.

He said all Lagosians must, in the holy month of Ramadan and after, increase there good and noble characters, eschew bad habits and promote love, peace and unity to ensure that Lagos remain a safe, secure and healthy place to live.

The National head of Ansar-ul-Society of Nigeria, Sheikh Abdul Rahman Ahmed, said Ramadan period “gives opportunity for Muslim to move closer to Allah and implement Allah’s good wishes for promotion of humanity.

He enjoined all Muslim to renew their relationship with God and man and be more charitable, generous, prayerful and loving in this month, and internalize and practice these noble habits henceforth.

The Director of Muslim Rights Concerns, Professor Ishaq Lakin Akintola, said prayers have been working in Lagos. “While he was praying for Lagos, call on all Lagosians to increase their prayers and advised them to continue their support for Governor Ambode’s Administration so that he could complete all the “fantastic” programmes, especially road and rail initiatives, modernisation projects and infrastructural expansion programme”, he said.

Other prominent Islamic clerics at the Tasfir were His Eminence the Chief Imam of Lagos State, Sheikh Sulaiman Nola, Co-Chairmen of Nigeria Inter-Religious Council (NIREC) and Chairman Muslim Pilgrim’s Board, Professor Tajudeen Yusuf and Sheikh Ismaila Raji.
