Atlantic Shrimpers’AS part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the Atlantic Shrimpers Limited has donated a vehicle to the Federal Department of Fisheries, Lagos Liaison office for logistic support.

The vehicle, Hilux Jeep, was handed over by the Managing Director of Atlantic Shrimpers, Mr. Kamlesh Kabra to top management officials of the Fisheries Department in the presence of the Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, represented by Lagos Director of Agricultural Transformation Agenda (ATA), Mrs. Yetunde Adejumo, Director of Fisheries, Pastor Remi Abioye, Deputy Director of LLO, Mrs. Olabisi Bamidele Adepegba and others.

In his remark, Kabra said the gesture was part of its organisation’s move to key into the agenda of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, adding that it is part of its CSR to provide the vehicle for the logistic use of the ministry, which will go a long way to assist them in carrying out their duties.

He however, appealed to the ministry to bail the company out of its present predicament based on the quit notice issued them by Nigerian Port Authority (NPA), to vacate their office, asking them to come to their aid.

The Director of Fisheries, Abioye said when he assumed office last December, one of the things he met on ground was logistics challenges, which the 2015 Budget is not enough to address. He stressed that the ministry cannot do it alone, hence the need for collaboration and partnership, which has started with the donor, adding that the Fisheries Society of Nigeria should be supported.

Earlier in her welcome address, the Deputy Director of LLO, Adepegba said the importance of the fishery industry cannot be over-emphasised, adding that for it to be in business and to carry out its routine duties, one of the things lacking in the office is vehicles to make the job easier.

She thanked the donor for the gesture, appealing to other organisations to also support them for the successful performance of their duties.
