ARMTI to train smallholder farmers how to export

The Federal Government has approved a three-day sensitization to train smallholder and medium-scale farmers how to add value to their products, export and generate wealth for themselves and the country.

The three-day seminar will be implemented by the Agricultural and Rural Management Training Institute (ARMTI), Ilorin, at its Regional Training Centre, Adisa Estate, Apo-Gudu, Abuja, between May 21 and 23.

The Public Relations Officer of the Institute, Mr Mayowa Gidado, disclosed that Federal Government had realized that smallholder farmers are the bedrock of food production and contribute largest productivity to the agricultural sector, therefore shifting attention to making them earn better incomes via exports.

He added that participation in the seminar is open to existing and intending exporters, and that registration is free by expressing interest to participate through a text message, an e-mail message or phone calls to the institute.

Experts from the National Export Promotion Council (NEPC), airlines, crop-aggregating firms, Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), foreign embassies and non-governmental organisations, among other relevant public and private agencies.
