Management of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, Edo State, has concluded arrangements to celebrate 40 years anniversary as a state university.

The vice chancellor, Prof. Ignatius Onimawo, while addressing journalists on activities lined up for the event, said the institution had graduated over 100,000 students in more than 70 academic disciplines.

Onimawo said the event would showcase the success stories of the university in the training of qualified alumni, infrastructural development, academic excellence, and research breakthroughs.

According to the vice chancellor, the celebration billed to hold from April 12 to April 16, will feature public lectures, academic excellence award to exemplary staff, launch of a Hall of Fame magazine, art exhibition, plays and drama presentations among others.

Speaking on the achievements of the university, the vice chancellor said the institution stands out as one of the 10 best institutions, in terms of standard and quality of teaching and learning.
Onimawo noted that from a humble beginning of 408 foundation students in 1981, the university had churned out over 100,000 students in more than 70 academic programmes.

“From the prefab structures at Emaudo, Ekpoma, two great universities with massive structures have emerged; Ambrose Alli University and Delta State University. The dream and vision of the founding father, Prof. Ambrose Alli has been achieved”, he added.
