Stakeholders to tackle transparency issues at forum
The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), Nigeria Council, has unveiled activities for Nigeria Annual International Conference & Exhibition (NAICE) schedule to hold from August 2 to 4, 2016, at the Expo Centre, Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Special guests expected at the conference include the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo; the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode; Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, and Meehan Nethan of SPE International President.
Tagged: “Transparency in the Oil and Gas Business: An Imperative for Energy Security and Stability”, the conference is expected to begin with short courses on July 30 to 31, Leadership Workshop, Young Professionals Workshop and Dinner, Student Chapter Contests, and Welcome Cocktail.
Speaking at a media briefing, Chairman of SPE Nigeria Council, George Kalu, stated that a key highlight of the conference will be the opening ceremony on August 02, 2016. “We also have a number of plenary sessions such as a marginal field workshop, panel sessions and women development program from August 02 through August 04.
According to him, these plenary sessions will discuss the following topics, Enhancing the Marginal Field Value Chain: Cost Reduction & Operations Efficiency through Collaboration & Synergy; Ethics and Transparency for Block Concession & Divestment in the Nigeria Oil & Gas Industry; The Face of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry in 2017; Exploring opportunities for female entrepreneurs in the Oil and Gas sector – now is the time; and positioning for Change in a Cyclic Industry Undergoing Transparency: The Role of the Innovative Young Professional.
He said that the reason for the theme was to create means on how the country can grow from the current problems in the oil and gas industry and also creating an environment for transparency which makes it easier to attract investors.
He stated: “From the above you can already have a glimpse on our focus of discussing transparency in the oil and gas business.”
