Mikano partners German firm on power project

Mikano International, a recognized solution provider in Nigeria , has signed a partnership agreement with the renown German Power generator firm company, MTU Onsite Energy to deliver a more reliable Independent Power Plant Gas project in higher engines capacities delivering over 450 megawatts for industrial use in Nigeria.

In addition, the firm is spearheading the promotion of engineering and technological innovation among students in the nation’s tertiary institution through its 25th anniversary corporate social responsibility.

The initiative, which is coming through on-line competition on Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) is aimed at promoting education and creating opportunities for young technical students to gain skills in their technical fields.

Mikano’s sales director, Mr. Loukman Jouni, who spoke at a media chat to mark the firm’s 25th anniversary in Lagos, said the initiatives was in line with the company’s determination to help in delivering critical infrastructure and power back- up needed for growth and development of the country.

Jouni stressed that the IPP project has already been delivered and commissioned in some of their customers’ manufacturing industries like , The Intercontinental Hotel, Victoria Island, Aquadana waters, Sunal Food, Nampak amongst others.
Beyond , the firm, he said, has extended its operations to steel fabrication, lighting infrastructure, real construction, furniture and construction businesses in Nigeria and Africa.

Expressing worries about the influx of fake equipment in Nigerian market, he said, the firm is working with Nigeria Standard Organisaiton, Nigeria Consumer Protection Agency among others to check the menace.

In addition, the firm, he said, would be working towards migrating to cleaner energy because of the sad experiences Nigerians had on hazardous kerosene and diesel generators.

Speaking also on the anniversary, head of marketing and communication, Mrs. Mayssa Hermes, said the firm has kicked-off its 25th anniversary with series of activities to show of appreciation to Nigeria community and through corporate social activities that support the cause of under privileged and disadvantaged members of the Nigeria society.

These, she said, include donations to school of the blind and orphanage homes as well as football activities with Mikano sales promo/ raffle draw as the lead activity for the celebration. The sales promo covers products for the steel factory, lighting solution, power generation, heavy equipment and spare parts.

Mrs. Hermes said, prospective customers are to win instant reward with an opportunity to win the mega price during the promo.

On the STEM project, the assistant Marketing Manager, Mrs. Carol Chukwura stressed that interested students are to send in their ideas in word documents, while those selected will be invited to share it with professionals, who will help to nurture them to fruition.

She said the initiative is aimed at promoting education and creating opportunities for young technical students to gain skills in their technical field of educations .

The competition , she said, is developed to identify and reward creative university and colleges of science, technology, engineering and mathematics students in Nigeria and is strictly for university students from ages 17- 25.

She added that students in the areas of science and technology to develop their creative minds and help optimize their potentials in the area of nation’s building and the fulfillment of their dreams.

“The initiative is to help Nigeria in its economic growth and development. The competition, which has a total price value of N1.8 million is helping to build up”, she said.

On her part, the assistant advert manager, Mrs. Wura Orimolade said Mikano has demonstrated firm belief on the nation and its growth by implementing series of activities and corporate social initiatives that support the students, Nigerian Police force, the Federal and state governments.
