Presco, others lead NSE’s 2.7 per cent loss

Presco Nigeria Plc traded lower at the end of last weekís transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange with 4.49 kobo to close at N60.49 per share.

On the other hand, Okomu Oil Plc topped the gainersí chart with 3.50 kobo to close at N66.50 per share, while International Breweries followed adding 3.38 kobo to close at N38.95 per share.

Investors stake N15.4b in equities

Presco Nigeria Plc traded lower at the end of last weekís transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange with 4.49 kobo to close at N60.49 per share.Following Presco last week was Lafarge Africa, shedding 2.80 kobo to close at N49.97 per share. Flour Mills dropped 2.60kobo to close at N27.40 per share. Oando also lost 0.46 kobo to close at N6.05 per share.

On the other hand, Okomu Oil Plc topped the gainersí chart with 3.50 kobo to close at N66.50 per share, while International Breweries followed adding 3.38 kobo to close at N38.95 per share.

Other gainers of last weekís transactions included Seplat Petroleum, UACN, and NewReest ASL, which appreciated by 22.89, 0.85 and 0.54 kobo to close at N480.79, N 15.45 and N6.50 per share, respectively.TransNational Corporation garnered 0.34 kobo to close at N7.21 per share. NEM Insurance also appreciated by 0.19 kobo to close at N1.19 per share.

Consequently, a total turnover of 896.618 million shares worth N15.368billion were recorded in 17,048 deals by investors on the floor of the Exchange, in contrast to a total of 887.024 million units valued at N17.450billion that changed hands in 16,955 deals in the preceding week.The financial services industry (measured by volume) led the activity chart with 708.046 million shares valued at N7.793billion traded in 9,164 deals; thus contributing 78.97 per cent to the total equity turnover volume.

The consumer goods industry followed with 56.502 million shares worth N5.509billion in 3,414 deals. The third place was occupied by the conglomerates industry with a turnover of 32.439 million shares worth N106.687million in 744 deals.

Trading in the top three equities namely ñ Diamond Bank Plc, Zenith International Bank Plc, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, (measured by volume) accounted for 336.181 million shares worth N5.680billion in 2,936 deals, contributing 37.49 per cent to the total equity turnover volume.

Also traded during the week were a total of 1,265 units of Exchange Traded Products (ETPs) valued at N145,720.20 executed in 8 deals compared with a total of 3,000 units valued at N31,590.00 transacted last week in 1 deal.

A total of 5,290 units of Federal Government Bonds valued at N5.030million were traded this week in 15 deals, compared with 8,535 units valued at N8.660 million transacted last week in 11 deals.The NSE All-share index and market capitalisation depreciated by 2.65 per cent, and 2.63 per cent to close the week at 35,005.57 and N12.068trillion, respectively.

Similarly, all other Indices finished lower during the week with the exception of NSE Oil/Gas index that rose by 0.17 per cent.About 23 equities appreciated in price during the week, lower than 28 in the previous week, while 45 equities depreciated in price, higher than 38 equities a week earlier, and 104 equities remained unchanged lower than 105 equities recorded in the preceding week.

An additional volume of 879,645,796 units of UACN Property Development Co. Limited resulting from the just-concluded rights issue were added to its outstanding shares on Thursday September 14,. By this action, the total outstanding shares of the company now stood at 2,598,395,791.

Also, additional volumes of 34,141,958 units, 465,240 units and 145,065 units were added to the outstanding volumes of VETBANK ETF, VETGOODS ETF, and VETINDETF respectively on Thursday.
