NSE’s All-share index plunges further by 0.8 per cent

Virtually all the bluechip companies depreciated in price yesterday on the trading floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), as equity transactions continues on a decline, causing the All-share index to drop further by 0.8 per cent.

Virtually all the bluechip companies depreciated in price yesterday on the trading floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), as equity transactions continues on a decline, causing the All-share index to drop further by 0.8 per cent.

Specifically, at the close of transactions yesterday, the All-share index sfell by 228.52 points or 0.8 per cent from 27,179.28 recorded on Monday to 26,950.76 while market capitalization depreciates by N78 billion from N9,344 trillion to N9,266 trillion.
39 stocks depreciated in price, led by Skye bank with 9.52 per cent to close at N1.33 per share. Transanational corporation followed with 5.26 per cent to close at N1.44 per share.

E Tranzact lost 5.00 per cent to close at N2.66 per share. Honey well flourmills shed 5.00 per cent to close at N1.52 per share.

Northern Nigeria Flourmills dropped 4.89 per cent to close at N8.55 per share. Portland paints, First City Monument Bank, Diamond Bank lost 4.79,4.74 and 4.62 per cent to close at N3.58, N1.81 and N2.27 4.62 per share.

UACN and Unity bank also shed 4.52 and 4.48 per cent to close at N22.61 and N0.64 per share.
On the other hand, 14 stocks constituted the losers Julius Berger topped the gainers with 5.00 per cent to close at N39.70 per share while Learn Africa trailed with 4.94 per cent to close at N0.85 per share. Unilever added 4.88 per cent to close at N44.05 per share. Flourmills gained 4.86 per cent to close at N22.02 per share.

Ecobank TransNational Incorporated added 4.65 per cent to close at N16.64 per share. LawUnion&Rock and May&Baker garnered 4.29 and 4.17 per cent to close at N0.73 and N1.00 per share.
Continental Reinsurance, Fidelity Bank and Air service also gained 4.12,2.12 and 2.15 per cent to close at N1.01,N1.39 and N1.90 per share.

On the activity chart, the banking subsector maintained its dominance in volume terms with 70 million shares wiorth N529 million in 810 deals while the Household products subsector followed withj 38 million units worth N1.6 million.
On the whole, investors exchanged 189 million shares worth N3.2 billion in 3,265 deals.
