In an effort to cushion the effect of hardship being faced by Katsina State retirees, Governor Aminu Bello Masari has vowed to pay all outstanding gratuities to all retirees in the state before the end of the year.

He made the promise in Daura, at the occasion of the Maulud-el-Nabiy celebration where he promised that the payment would begin immediately and end by December 31st.

Explaining the source of the money from which to offset the outstanding gratuities, the Governor disclosed that it was a refund made to the 36 states and FCT owing to illegal deductions made by the Federal government over a period of time.

The Governor assured that he would expend the money judiciously in key sectors of the economy, including education, health, agriculture and security as well as women and youth empowerment.

“The State Government will step up its activities to ensure that every part of the state is completely rid of banditry,” he emphasised. Warning that, his government, which has been spending millions of Naira every month to ensure peace, would not condone any act capable of disturbing the peace in the state.

He commended President Muhammadu Buhari for making the refund and the numerous bailout funds he has provided to the states.
