In order to check the rising rate of migration, especially among youths, stakeholders at the NALT International Club have urged the government to create a conducive environment to nurture entrepreneurs and grow small businesses.

Vice President Corporate Communications and CSR, Airtel Nigeria, Emeka Opara, while making a presentation titled “Between Migration and Entrepreneurship: Youth Challenges and Opportunities in Nigeria”, at the biennial Harris Convention of the NALT International Club analysed the current upsurge and crave for migration by the Nigerian Youths while highlighting a five-point agenda as a guide to strengthening entrepreneurship in Nigeria.

He opined that Nigerian youths should not have the belief that grass is always greener outside the shores of the country and expounded a five-point agenda for entrepreneurs to include, knowing the business one wants to embark on, the market and its dynamics, having a proper record of transactions for the business, knowing what works for the business and what would not apply and knowing the clients or people you are to deal with.

The Convention aimed at strengthening NALT’S governance and accountability mechanisms as well as opportunity for the Club to engage in charity work through its Corporate Social Responsibility and Humanitarian activities. Opara further advised young entrepreneurs to always start-up small and expand the business scope as they improve their knowledge of the industry they are engaged in and should never see capital as an obstacle.

According to him, “this is our country, we have to stay here and defend it. We should not run it down even in Social Media”. He advised that the bad behaviour of some people should not deter youths to stay back and defend Nigeria. He further explained the need for young entrepreneurs to be social and use social media effectively and positively, ensure customer service and strive to build a brand through niches as the core to a successful business.

Giving a background description of the Club, Dr Bob Eze, Chairman Board of Trustees, NALT International explained that the Club is a non-profit organisation whose primary objective is to defend those who cannot defend themselves.

“We are the last line between the oppressors and the oppressed through our voices and actions and where necessary put our resources at the disposal of the defenceless. He concluded by emphasising that NALT does not believe in violence, but in a strategic and intellectual approach to addressing societal anomalies”, Eze added.Earlier, the BOT Vice Chairman, Chidi Nwokabia, who read the message of the Founder of NALT Club, emphasised and appreciated the selfless service and altruistic contributions of members to the growth of the Club.
