Firm, UK partner collaborate on capacity building for fire fighters

Falck Prime Atlantic (FPA), a subsidiary of Prime Atlantic Limited, and Fire Service College, UK, have concluded plans to collaborate on specialised fire-fighting training to the public and private sectors in Nigeria.
  
According to Falck, the collaboration has commenced with the training of Federal Fire Service personnel this month on four different specialised courses including High Rise Fire Fighting Tactics, Casualty Care and Extrication, Fire Team Leader (JOIFF), and Fire Safety Management and Fire Risk Assessment.
 
The firm explained that the training will ensure that the Federal Fire Service is equipped with knowledge and technical skills required to deliver on their jobs.

The Fire Service College has a longstanding relationship with Nigeria and this collaboration is an important new development.”
 
On his part, Acting DCG Federal Fire Service, Quintus G. Azogu, said that enhancing the knowledge and skills of fire-fighters was imperative, hence the emphasis on personnel training and re-training.   
  
He further said Falck Prime Atlantic was one of the best private fire-fighting training facilities in Nigeria with a reputation comparable to what obtains overseas.

Azogu said the collaboration between Falck Prime Atlantic and the Fire Service College, Moreton, in Marsh, UK, has further strengthened the quality of the programme, as seasoned resource persons from the college are available to deliver some of the subjects at Falck Prime Atlantic’s training centre.

He also disclosed that the Federal Fire Service had made tremendous efforts to boost its staff strength, procure more fire-fighting equipment, and re-jig the Fire Service Act, and the National Fire Safety Code.
  
He also disclosed the Controller General’s plans to engage state governments for improved service delivery of fire services in their respective jurisdictions, especially in the areas of recruitment, fire-fighting assets, and training.
