The Federal Government has concluded plans with the government of Turkey for the development of Greenfield and Brownfield projects in strategic locations

The Federal Government has concluded plans with the government of Turkey for the development of Greenfield and Brownfield projects in strategic locations in Nigeria.

In addition, both countries have agreed to embark on the construction of mass affordable housing in selected city centres, capacity development and mentoring for Public-Private Partnership officials.

The Minister of State for Works and Housing, Abubakar Aliyu, disclosed this yesterday, when he received the Turkish Minister of Trade, Rushar Peckan, on a courtesy call in Abuja.

Aliyu also explained the need for more collaboration between Nigeria and Turkey, in order to achieve greater success by sharing common development goals for both countries.

“In order to achieve these, there is a need to share knowledge in technological investment and engineering design and construction for the purpose of providing infrastructure for development.”

The Minister, therefore, expressed the Ministry’s willingness to collaborate with investors in the road infrastructure sector, and in many areas.

Earlier, the Minister of Trade, Rushar Pekan, said the visit is to seek increased partnership with the Ministry with a view to increasing Turkey’s trade volume in Nigeria in road construction.

Pekan, who was accompanied by the Turkish Ambassador, Melih Ulueren, described Nigeria as one of the most important countries and the biggest economy in Africa, noting that it has great potential in engineering and with experts in this field.
She, therefore, urged the Ministry to consider Turkish investors in those areas.
