Meet Sadam Focus A.K.A. Smile the passionate entertainer

My elder brothers noticed the gift in me. They said my look and the way I talk make them laugh. My parents also laugh to some of my jokes, whenever they are less busy.

Sadam Focus

Can we meet you?
My name is Sadam Focus, aka Smile. I am from Oyo State, and I am 15 years old.

What do you do?
I am a comedian, master of ceremony, a model and an entertainer.

What made you go into this business?
My elder brothers noticed the gift in me. They said my look and the way I talk make them laugh. My parents also laugh to some of my jokes, whenever they are less busy. That was how I started. Afterwards, I started cracking jokes in school and my friends loved it. Through my friends, I started getting invite to birthday parties, get to together, etc.

How did you start?
I started the business from the interior area of my creed, when I was just a boy. And from home, I took it to school social programmes and to other social gatherings outside the school, even without a particular arrangement or preparation. The passion and love for what I do is the drive.

Were you trained by professionals or you are self-trained?
I wouldn’t say I was totally self-trained, as I was watching many comedy skits, which can also be categorised as training. I spent many free moments watching those videos, just to get the right charisma needed for my profession.

How do you combine school and entertainment?
It is really not an easy task, but creating a balance was needed, and I can say that with God’s help, no one has hindered the other. However, most events I attend are at weekends.

Who are your target audience?
The general public and everybody that loves being happy. I bring smile to their faces.

Do you make money from your business?
Yes, I make money, when I perform on stage or anchor programmes for my friends or customers.

Where do you get your motivation from and who are your role models?
I have many role models. In fact, that is the motivation behind my push. My mom is my first role model. She might not be into comedy, but I get this strong vibe from her, seeing the way she handles her business. In the industry, KennyBlaq, Akpororo and Basket Mouth, just to mention a few, are my role models.

When you see awesome kids doing wonders in their different fields, do you feel motivated to try more or you feel you are lagging behind?
I feel motivated to do more and to be the best of my best. Everyone has their time zone and capability in different areas. Feeling motivated and having the urge to do more is the key to success.

What determines the type of jokes you crack?
My audience determines the type of jokes I crack. If I crack jokes and my audience doesn’t laugh, then I am not a comedian. Before I crack any joke, I pray to God to make my audience love the joke and laugh out loud.

Were you at any point discouraged, maybe by your parents, siblings or pressure from studies?
No, everything around me has always been encouraging.

Where do you see yourself in five years?
I see myself as a bigger brand in the industry and achieving greatly in the field.

What other things are you skilled at, aside comedy?
I can sing.

Any final word to other kids with potentials out there?
Yeah!!! Be the best you can be. Don’t give up. Don’t engage in any illegal deal. Be prayerful and commit yourself to hard work, and sincerely speaking, there is no limit to where you can reach in life.
