Diamond Bank proffers solution to MSMEs’ challenges

SMEsIN order to minimise the frequency of failures of businesses in Nigeria, Diamond Bank Plc has reiterated its resolve to continue to encourage entrepreneurs in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector of the Nigerian economy.

The Bank’s Head, MSME, Mrs. Chidinma Lawanson, who spoke at the 62nd DiamondXpress Business Seminar, held in Lagos, said that, the lender believes in surpassing customer expectations by adding value at every step.

According to her, for the economy to grow and for people to have opportunity for employment, and to be able to feed themselves, we should be looking at an economy where people are committed in managing their own businesses and that can only happen if you have a bank.

“We strongly believe that is a good thing for the economy because if the SMEs grow their capacity, they will be able to employ more people. That might also translate into more customers for us,” she stated.

Speaking at the conference, the Managing Director, Castle Lifestyle, Dipo Davies expressed concerns over the failures of small scale business in Nigeria.

According to him, the first thing SMEs’ operators in the country need is advisory, financing and guidance in order to support their businesses.

He said, the SME sector has the capacity to drive and encourage indigenous business and rural economic development such that the whole country can be transform into a productive economy and help the people to employment.

The event was designed to further equip their customers for enterprise development, as well as assist in the transformation and expansion of their businesses into enterprises that generate employment, economic benefits and social value.
