NATIONAL Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has selected Inview Technology to provide the country’s national digital TV system, as it prepares to switch from analogue to digital.

The agreement comprises set-top box software and integrated broadcast services for Nigeria’s Freeview and Freesat digital terrestrial and satellite networks.

NBC’s services will include interactive advertising, push video-on-demand, an electronic programme guide, and a range of broadcasting applications such as news, public service information and audience measurement services.

“Thirteen companies originally bid for the digital TV system and we are confident that by appointing Inview we can provide a smooth switchover to digital terrestrial broadcasting, and create the biggest TV platform in the African continent” stated Emeka Mba, director general of the broadcasting commission.

Nick Markham, chairman of Inview said: “NBC are being extremely forward thinking in their planning for digital switch-over in Nigeria. Inview’s technology allows upgraded services from launch of digital TV straight through to high-end hybrid services and future proofs the Nigerian DSO platform.”
