The National Productivity Centre (NPC) and National Assembly Service Commission are planning collaborating efforts aimed at building the productivity awareness of the staffers of the commission.

The Director General of the Centre, Kashim Akor, who stated the imperative of collaboration with all the departments, agencies and ministries of government while paying a courtesy visit on the Executive Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Adamu Fika, in Abuja, noted the need for Nigerians to embrace the tenets of productivity.

A statement signed by the Director, Corporate Affairs of NPC, Gbenga Bamiduro, quoted the Director-General as stressing the need to constantly strive to improve on the current situation, explaining that productivity is the mentality of progress and adaption to change.

To cultivate daily improvement on outputs, Akor hinted that the Centre is putting in place a four-pronged approach for the transformation of the public service for effective service delivery in line with the Change Agenda of the current administration.

He also said the Centre has commenced the delivery of Productivity Awareness lectures in Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), including the National Assembly Service Commission.

He also revealed that the Awareness Lectures would be followed with the establishment of Productivity Units in all MDAs in order to reposition the public service to effectively and efficiently discharges its responsibilities.

The third approach is the installation of Productivity and Quality Improvement Programme, an interventionist programme designed to improve the overall performance of organizations in both private and public sectors of the economy.

The fourth approach is the establishment of Productivity Data Bank and implementation of productivity measurement, which has been designed to measure the performance of organizations in order to stimulate operational improvement, saying, “you cannot improve what you cannot measure”.
