A total of N59 million has been given as quarterly draw prizes to customers of Diamond Bank Plc for the year, to encourage saving culture, as part of the bank’s Corporate Social responsibility (CSR).

The third phase of the quarterly draw, which took place at the bank’s Maryland branch in Lagos, presented series of grants for its customers, which saw Uche Ann Daniel from the Festac town branch, winning the star prize of brand new Hyundai Accent car.

Speaking, Head, Regional Businesses, Lagos Directorate, Diamond Bank, Chris Ofikulu, explained that the 10th season of the bank’s saving Xtra draw, is a quarterly draw and its mega draw for the year 2018.

He said: “It was a random electronic selection process, the computer picks winners. Every N5, 000 in a customer’s account gives the customer an electronic ticket into the draw, the more money you have in your account, the more your ticket and chances of winning. The system runs through all our customer’s accounts nationwide and picks randomly.

“The aim is to encourage a saving culture for people; saving money with us makes you eligible to win on a quarterly base, especially our loyal customers. You don’t necessarily have to have a lot of money to win because it’s a random electronic winning selection process. The star prize winner of the first season scheme had only N20, 000 in his account, and he won N50 million; so it’s just a way of encouraging people to save, and also Diamond Bank’s way of giving back to the society,” he said.

Ofikulu, who further implored customers to save and become the bank’s ambassadors as they save, they get back, however noted the challenges faced by banks in the country as criminals perpetrate fraudulent acts in the name of banks.

“It took quite an effort to convince the star prize winner over the phone that she actually won a car, we eventually referred her to her branch manager in Festac town” he said.

Also commenting, Head, Mass Market Segment, Diamond Bank, Osita Ede, said: “Today, we have 1016 winners; we have the crown prize, which is the car, and six people won N1million each for a year rent. Someone won education grant for five years which is the sum of N100,000 every month for a duration of five years, and a whole lot of other prizes over the year. Customers won a total of N59 million prizes for the year. Also, to ensure transparency, no staff or their family members can participate in the draw.”
