Arik introduces travellers’ insurance scheme

Arik Air, a sub regional airline giant, has introduced a unique product called “Air Travelers’ Insurance Scheme”. This policy is a customized insurance which provides cover against accidents resulting in death, permanent disability or bodily injury within 90 days of the occurrence of the accident.

The insurance cover will also take care of damage to baggage, missing bags, flight cancellation or delays and medical expenses.
The Guardian gathered that the policy will cover passengers aboard Arik’s aircraft flying from airport to airport within Nigeria.

Disclosing this at the airline’s headquarters in Lagos, its managing director, Chris Ndulue, who used the occasion of the launch of the scheme to mark the company’s 9th year anniversary in active operation, said this product is another way Arik wants flying experience more comfortable and risk free for its teaming passengers.

According to him, the cover has several benefits including paying up to N1million for personal accidents, N20,000 per trip for flight cancellation/delays for than eight hours, N50,000 for emergency medical expenses, mishandled and missing baggage will attract the payment of N20,000 inconvenience allowance per passenger, while damage to baggage will attract N20,000 per passenger.

The condition to benefit from the scheme, Ndulue stated, is a payment of N1,000 for the travel insurance as one purchases an Arik’s passenger ticket through a Verve Card, MasterCard, Visa Card or online at www.arikair.com to any destination within Nigeria.
