Winners emerge for Nigerian Film Corporation’s 2018 film essay competition

Winners of 2018 edition of Nigerian Film Corporation’s (NFC) Annual Film Essay Competition have emerged. The corporation announced the results of the keenly contested essay competition in Jos, Plateau State, last Friday.

In the statement by its Head of Public & Intergovernmental Affairs, Brian Etuk, NFC said a total of 43 Nigerians ages 18 – 25 years from eligible Nigerians from across the country, participated in the essay competition and that none of the entries was disqualified. The topic for the 2018 NFC Essay Competition was ‘Projecting Nigeria’s Values as A Great Nation through Film.’ Submission of entries opened on May 2 and closed on August 30, 2018.

Etuk said further that NFC’s Managing Director, Dr. Chidia Maduekwe, has expressed satisfaction with the participation level and the outcome of the essay competition, describing the winning essays as the best of all the entries. Maduekwe congratulated the winners and assured that NFC would continue to engage the general public, film stakeholders and enthusiasts in its programmes and projects that are geared towards the overall development of the Nigerian film industry.

The winners are Said Saad Abubakar (first), Ike-Okonkwo Adaobi (second) and Ogbaga Sunday Thomas (third) and have won cash prizes of N250,000, N100,000, and N75,000.00 respectively.

Presentation of certificate of participation and cash prizes to the star winners will be at an award night at this year’s ZUMA Film Festival holding from December 1 through 7, 2018 in Abuja. Topic and call for entries for the 2019 edition of the NFC Annual Film Essay Competition will be announced in the first quarter of 2019.
