The place of young adult and even children in society continues to be neglected or treated with kid’s gloves. Increase in crime rate is blamed on the failure of the home to properly direct children the right way. As a result, prison yards continue to swell everyday.

The place of young adult and even children in society continues to be neglected or treated with kid’s gloves. Increase in crime rate is blamed on the failure of the home to properly direct children the right way. As a result, prison yards continue to swell everyday. How can the downward slide be halted? Two books, The Parables of the Two Sleeping Women and The Beauty of Worship, written by Mrs. Ronke Adeyemo, provide wake up call for womenfolk especially, to be alive to their responsibilities as nurturers of homes and children. Reports MARGARET MWANTOK who was there
THE Parable of Two Sleeping Women talks about how great destinies are formed or mismanaged from the womb. The home is a factory where great or delinquent children are produced. One could say ‘show me a country where the prisons are filled beyond capacity, a country where crime is a way of life, a country whose people are hungry in the midst of abundance and I will show you a country where the women are not only sleeping but also snoring.’

The book is “a prophetic message to the women folk,” the author stated during the launch of the books at Beehive Hall, Ikeja, Lagos, last Sunday to mark her 45th birthday. “It was written to encourage virtuous women to read and apply the message therein. The book doesn’t just show the problems, it equips women to take responsibility”.

Dignitaries in attendance included Pastor Kolawole Oyeyemi and his wife, Nike, Femi Abiodun, Mrs. Mojisola Akinhanmi, Mr. Adedimeji Akinhanmi, Pastor Yinka Akinsanya, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo, Pastor Mike Okpara, Mrs. Bisi Adebayo and the husband of the author, Mr. Yemi Adeyemo.

Adeyemo who was described as a woman with a large heart, encourager and resourceful said she was inspired to write the two books by God, noting, “I started writing The Beauty of Worship because of the experience I had last year. I fell sick last year and God said it was because I stopped worshipping him. The book is God’s command”.

The parable of Two Sleeping Women, she said, is an inspiration she got in August. According to her, “I slept one day and God woke me up and took me to 1 Kings, Chapter three, where Solomon encountered God and was given wisdom. You would expect that high profile cases would be brought to Solomon afterwards, but what came to him were two prostitutes. God told me the cause of the problem was because the two women were sleeping. God said I should tell people in my book to wake up; He said sleeping was a sin, and when you are in deep sin God will dissociate himself from you”.

The second book, The Beauty of Worship, on the other hand, gives practical guide and answers to the questions about worship. It answers questions like what is worship? Who should we worship? Who would worship? Where, when and how do I start worship? It goes further to explain what worship does to God and man, and finally, the danger of not worshipping. Worship is deliberate and the time to worship is now.

While reviewing the book, Pastor Kolawole Oyeyemi described Adeyemo as a wonderful woman who inspires people. He noted, “We are creating monsters in the society when irresponsible men impregnate irresponsible women. That is why as mothers, you have to be prayer warriors in your respective homes. I pray that every man and woman that reads the book will wake up to his or her responsibilities”.

Another guest and pastor, Akinsanya advised, “When women wake up to their responsibilities in raising their children, we would have a better society. The book shows women what is expected of them as homemakers and homebuilders. The book also warns women to be far away from sin in order not to make their assignment ineffective”.

For Mrs. Akinhanmi, The Beauty of Worship is a must-read for every woman, adding, “Every word in the book is real. It is so real because of what I experienced as a worshipper. I thank God for using her in these modern days where many spiritual hymns have been abandoned”.

Mrs. Adebayo said The Parable of the Two Sleeping Women is a book every Christian or every mother should go through to have their ways right. She stated, “There are hidden revelations about children; it endears women to make sacrifices for their children by interceding for them”.

In lending her voice, an educationist, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo, said, “I always wanted a book where children could learn”.
