SPANFEST 2015 Beckons

Society for performing Arts in Nigeria (SPAN) has lined up activities to mark its 10th anniversary, known as SPANFEST. It has as theme ‘A Voice For The Voiceless.’ Like past programmes, it promise to be filled with memorable, breathtaking music, dance and drama performances.

According to the founder, Mrs. Sarah Boulos, a line up of activities will reinforce SPAN’s vision and the need to develop more educational programmes and to build a place to accommodate students and citizens to explore the wonders of the performing arts.

Appreciating the individuals and organizations that believe in her vision from the onset and have been supporting its activities, Boulos said, “I have faith that SPANFEST 2015 will rekindle in our community a desire to invest in performing art education and performances to sustain a vibrant and healthy environment in our city of Lagos.”

The workshop opens on November 11 with local music, dance, drama and art management workshops with local and international performing arts’ professors training registered participants at SPAN Hub, The Agidiba Community Centre, Davis Street, Off Broad Street, Marina, Lagos. On November 16, pioneering five staged shows where a violinist, poet, comedian, singer and dancer perform simultaneously while painters create masterpieces at the Ocean View Marque, Victoria Island will take place from 7-9pm.

Other events will be an adventure with famous guest artists like Tee Mac, Bright Gain, Jerry Omole and others on November 17 at the same venue at 7-9pm. Hear Word, a thought provoking drama, directed by Ifeoma Fafunwa will take centre stage on November 18 at the same venue and same time.

On November 19 and 20, there will be performing art management and motivational talk at SAPAN Hub, The Agidigba Community Centre from 10am to 3pm, while The Era of Legends will hold at The Ocean Marque from 7 to 9pm.

The grand finale will be the graduation ceremony of 2015 class of SPAN academy. The event closes with performances from SPANFEST workshop students at the Grand Ballroom, Eko Hotel and suites, Victoria Island at 5pm. For more information visit www.spannigeria.com
