Excitement as food, drinks festival holds in Lagos

Following the successful hosting of last year’s Lagos International Food and Drinks Festival, the organisers have promised attendees a fun filled third edition, which holds on March 23, 2019 at the Eko Atlantic Waterfront, Victoria lsland, Lagos.

Announcing the event recently, the festival director, Mr. lke Steve, said, “as a brand, Nigeria resonates with international audiences well beyond its actual square footage, our music, our speak, our creativity, our food, all continue to grab global attention.

“This year’s year festival is billed to feature a wide array of exciting activities including: indigenous cuisines and drinks sampled from over 40 Nigerian ethnic groups; live musical performances by renowned Nigerian artists; live comedy shows; various competitions including cooking, music, dance, eating and drinking; food art exhibitions, dance performances by cultural troupes. chef masterclasses, children’s fun activities. wine tasting sessions, seminars on food and nutrition, SMSE match-making sessions, exhibitions and sales bazaars. The festival will welcome over 10,000 visitors and up to 100 vendors during the full day of festivities.”

As part of the organisers’ efforts to expand the event, a major related event, the Beer Festival, Lagos, will be co-hosted with the food festival. “The beer festival promises to be the largest yearly gathering of beer enthusiasts, connoisseurs, celebrities, bar crawlers and those just wanting to learn more about beer,” Ike said.

Explaining the rationale behind the beer festival, Ike stated; “The Beer festival, Lagos is designed to celebrate Nigeria’s shared drinking culture and a love of celebrating life. The festival will highlight the health benefits of moderate consumption of beer, as nutritionist and beer experts will be on hand to meet with and share insights. It is a chance for brewers to connect with fans old and new, and also an ideal opportunity to put a face to the creator of their fans’ favourite beer.”
