The 10th edition of October Rain art exhibition will hold from the 28th of October 28 through November 6 at National Museum, Onikan, Lagos. The show, which is an annual professional art exhibition, held by the Lagos State chapter of Society of Nigeria Artists (SNA), has been a melting pot of creativity and exposition for Lagos-based practising artists.

October Rain captures and projects genuine creativity and efforts of exhibiting artists, while steering genuine interest of art lovers, art collectors and patrons towards the retention of cultural heritage. This year’s edition promises to be groundbreaking, as it will not only commemorate Lagos at 50, but also have living legends of Nigerian art participating. It is also dedicated to the loving memory of an illustrious son of Lagos and great Nigerian art patron, late Chief Rasheed Gbadamosi.

According to the chairman of exhibition team, Yusuf Durodola, “The climax of this 10th anniversary edition is the participation of the living legends of Nigerian art, grandmasters of art, whose immense contribution to Nigerian art development cannot be over-emphasised. This long and rich list includes Yusuf Grillo, Abayomi Barber, Bruce Onobrakpeya, Banjo Fasuyi, dele jegede, Jerome Elaiho, Bisi Fakeye, Nike Okundaye, and Kolade Oshinowo among many others.”

October Rain will feature different genres of art, including painting, sculpture, ceramics, textile, kinetic works, mixed media and conceptual works from performance, cartoon, experimental art and drawing. To make for its all-inclusiveness, the exhibition has therefore been broken down into various stages. They are legends, master members, fellows, graduate members, student members and upcoming artists. All the works on display will be new works from the artists specifically for the occasion.
