Nwamadi calls for moral values, unification of Africa

In a bid to correct the declining moral values among the youth, Executive Director of Faith and Value Development Initiative (FVDI), Dr. Greg Okey Nwamadi, recently launched two new books titled Legend of the Lost and Lush Garden in an Arid Land in Lagos. He said he was inspired him to write the books to preserve threatened moral values that were handed down from past generations to the present generation.

According to him, “Values are fast eroding in our society and if there is no corrective action, society will continue to go down. We must make sure that we do not just sit down and complain but enforce discipline in our youth and make sure that they go in the right direction. And this is what I have done in Legend of the Lost, as it exposes the moral decadence of our youth, the consequences and what must be done to correct them.”

He further stated that the book was conceived from seminars with the young ones, with the purpose of instilling in them the values of commitment, handwork, truthfulness, diligence, creativity and communication, also noting that people no longer uphold these principles. Nwamadi stated that with the advent of technology, a lot of things had changed, adding that it was why his centre was making efforts to teach youth in society on maximising the inventions without compromising their values or abusing them.

Also, special guest of honour and Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Agriculture and Real Sector, Dr. Dolapo Bright, noted that over-reliance and criticism of government was as a result of lack of values in society. He said it was his belief that family value is the major requirement to make a nation stronger.

“We are losing family value which we are supposed to have and the church is not supporting it and if we don’t have it, our country will not be what we want it to be irrespective of the party,” he said. “People should imbibe the habit of individual value rather than criticising government. People have so much relied on government and failed to work towards building their individual values.”

Furthermore, while reviewing Legend of the Lost, Prof. Adedun Emmanuel, said the book is one of prophecy and usefulness, saying it combines science and spirituality to predict the future of Africa in 3035. According to him, Legend of the Lost gives a general outlook of events that would take place in 3035, as they forecast Africa becoming a united nation, with Nigeria as its headquarters.

He further stated that the book presents conflicting principles, as it features good and bad, truthfulness and sinfulness, modernity and traditionality, science and religion, and preservation and destruction.
