The National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), a parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, in furtherance of its mandate of effecting a sense of cultural direction in the citizenry, is again; set to hold a public lecture with the theme, ‘Culture as an Effective Tool for Foreign Relations’.

A senior research fellow at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Dr. Sharkdam Wapmuk, would deliver the lecture, which is scheduled to hold at the NIIA, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Tuesday, May 14, at 11:00am.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, is special guest of honour while former Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Ethiopia and Second Vice President, Association of Retired Career Ambassadors of Nigeria, Otunba Olusegun Akinsanya, mni will chair the occasion.

The NICO Quarterly Public Lecture series was conceptualised to serve as a platform for intellectual discourse on culture; sensitise Nigerians to the strategic importance of culture in the promotion and sustenance of good governance and the country’s nascent democracy; effect a sense of cultural direction in the citizenry to better appreciate their cultural heritage, cherish its inherent values and accord it a pride of place in all aspects of our development agenda.
