Popular fashion designer, stylist, creative director and CEO, Tiannah’s Place Empire, Toyin Lawani, has been unveiled as the new face of Nigeria’s Next Top Designer (NNTD) realty TV show. The designers’ competition is aimed at promoting African-inspired designs from Nigeria and fostering the development of aspiring Nigerian designers on the world stage.

According to the creator of NNTD and Africa Fashion Week, London and Nigeria, Ronke Ademiluyi, “The show is committed to be a positive mentor for future leaders and tomorrow’s trendsetters. The winner of NNTD season 1, Ogochukwu Akabogu, went ahead to win the Rising Icon at Music Meets Runway 2014. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners will get the chance to showcase at the Africa Fashion Week Nigeria (AFWN) 2016 and the winner also gets an all-expense paid trip to showcase at Africa Fashion Week London (AFWL) 2016”.

While expatiating on why Lawani was picked as the face of the show for the next edition, Ademiluyi noted, “The fashion icon was picked because of her designing and styling portfolio and the craftsmanship that goes into her job, also because of her zeal for imparting knowledge in the younger generation by establishing Tiannah Styling Fashion Academy where her team of professionals teach the Art of Styling and Advanced Designing, thereby creating employment for the younger generation and physically-challenged students under her scholarship programme”.

Lawani on her own part said, “last year was the first edition and I was only a judge but now that I am the face of the show, I want to make it bigger and better and that is why I am trying to make sure it shows on as many television stations as possible, where the people in diasporal can also watch. Infact since I posted stuff relating to the show on social media people have been bombarding our site with questions like where they can watch”.

Season 2 starts in the first quarter of 2016. Senior Project Director and boss of Ejire Garment Factory, a fashion consulting, private label and manufacturing house, Mr. Kehinde Oniru Adewole has promised that the show would be captivating, entertaining and educating.

The show is made possible by Courteville Business Solutions and Ravernsbourne U.K. A free online fashion pattern cutting is also being offered to all registrants with a certificate from Ravernsbourne U.K.
