John Agboola Lecture holds April 29 at OAU

The third edition of Chief John Agboola Odeyemi Annual Lecture will hold at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, with the theme, ‘Harnessing Our Natural and Cultural Heritage for National Development.

The third edition of Chief John Agboola Odeyemi Annual Lecture will hold at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, with the theme, ‘Harnessing Our Natural and Cultural Heritage for National Development’ under the chairmanship of former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), University of Lagos, Prof. Jide Alo. To deliver the guest lecture will be Minister for Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.

The lecture slated for Friday, April 29, 11am, is put together by the Natural History Museum in collaboration with Martins Odeyemi Museum of Antiquity and Contemporary African Art, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

Special guest of honour is the Chairman of Leventis Foundation, Nigeria, Alh. Ahmed Mantee, while the Royal Father of the day is Ojaja II, Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Eniitan Ogunwusi.

Host is Director, Natural History Museum, Dr. Adisa Ogunfolakan, while the chief host is the Vice-Chancellor, Obafemi Awolowo University, Prof. Bamitale Omole.

A professor of African Studies at the University of Texas, Toyin Falola delivered last year’s lecture with the theme, ‘Museum for Sustainable Society,’ where he posited that nature and cultural values could be commercialised in positive ways as they are very well connected to the tourist industry.
