Imax Partners Filmhouse For Better Cinematic Experience

As the cinema segment of the Nigerian Entertainment industry continues to wax stronger, FilmHouse has decided to take the cinema experience to another level by collaborating with Image Maximum (IMAX), the world’s biggest motion picture film format, with a set of cinema projection standards, to bring a never-before-seen cinematic experience to Nigeria, which would improve cinema goers’ satisfaction.

During a visit to FilmHouse Headquarters in Lagos Nigeria, Mr. Giovanni Dolci, Vice President, Theatre Development, said that the plan to improve the viewing experience in this part of the globe has been on for a long time, but he lamented that IMAX got some disappointments on earlier partnership projects. However, he said that they were motivated by the likened brilliant dream of FilmHouse to build foremost Cinemas in Nigeria.

Dolci’s description, it is putting in a lot to give Nigerians the world acclaimed IMAX experience in cinemas.

Chief Executive Officer of FilmHouse Kene Mkparu explained that the mission of this new agreement is to establish the best movie-going experience for Nigerians, who have wholeheartedly received the cinema culture. He stated that the partnership quest, which started sometimes
in April 2014, kicked off its plan in June 2015, and as the plan goes, the Cinema should be ready before mid 2016.

Also Dolci listed the exquisite features of this anticipated project to include what he described as ‘the biggest screen ever seen in any cinema in Nigeria’’. In his words ‘’it is an IMAX screen geometry, curved and much closer to the audience, with increased width in structure. It utilizes two digital projector systems, for increased brightness and a powerful sound system; as IMAX stands out as one that does not compress sound and an immense structure, with sound consistency. There is also no back seat, as everyone enjoys the movie the same way, regardless of their sitting positions”.

Also, Dolci spoke of how IMAX, with this project, plans to enhance a healthy relationship between Nigerian and Hollywood filmmakers. ‘’There would also be collaboration between IMAX and film makers in Nigeria, as done in China, Russia and India’’ he assured.

IMAX was founded in 1969 by the Canadian company, IMAX Corporation, and is solely aimed at providing unrivalled image qualities for its consumers. Having established about 1008 of its state-of-the-art Cinemas in 66 countries, including India, China, Philippines, Indonesia, Toronto, and Spain, the company finally decided to bring the wonderful cinema experience to West Africa, and has decided to start with Nigeria.
