THE Managing Director of Skysat Technologies Nigeria Limited, Mr. Izzat Debs, last week said that digital printing press is revolutionizing the publishing industry through innovative technologies.

According to him, through digital printing press, publishers now have access to the lowest printing production cost.  He also stated that digital press not only provides quality printing but colourful output that are attractive to the readers.

Debs, who spoke at the unveiling of new brand of digital printing press from Konica Minolta, bizhub press, maintained that with the arrival of the bizhub press series, digital printing in Nigeria would be further revolutionized, providing small and large scale printers and publishers to print at a high profit margin.

He said that the new product is a good option for customers considering updating their colour on-demand machines to realize even higher levels of service through both quality and speed to keep up with dramatic increases in the volume of orders and heightened demand for quality.

He said that any product would enjoy quality after sales service in terms of technical support as the organized has highly trained technicians to provide support if need be. He said that the engineers were trained in Germany the heritage home of the products.

Debs said that technologies such as on-demand printing and electronic publishing are steadily becoming a reality noting that rather than the needs for high-volume printing of standardized information, the demand for on-demand printing capable of printing small quality print jobs or variable date as needed has grown dramatically.

He noted that the rapid spread of tablet PCs has spurred the unrelenting transition from paper to electronic media arguing that the fusion of paper and electronic media has further increased the need for on-demand printing

“To grow into digital with success means being able to fulfill certain standards, above all to guarantee absolute colour consistency and deliver a superb image quality. The products of the bizhub Press C1070 series take these challenges in their stride. They provide the ultimate performance of up to 1681 SRA 3 pages per hour for press C1060 and up to 1976 SRA 3 pages per hour with the press C1070/p. combining this with highest media flexibility and professional modular finishing, this is the perfect match for key operator environments,” he said.

He also said that with the new series, printers could build up businesses by completing a wider range of high-volume jobs more efficiently in the fast-growing digital high-print volume market, in-house printers and graphic communications providers need the highest performance available on the market.

“Konica Minolta’s flagship models for digital colour on-demand printing reliably deliver the higher level of image quality, productivity and price competitiveness you need to satisfy your clients’ growing demands. And with very fast 85 to 100 print per minute and equal high speed printing for a wide range of paper weights, the bizhub press achieve superior productivity fast and give more options to grow the business.”

Speaking specifically on the C7800 product, he said that with its speedy 390 square metres per hour in black and white and 325 square metres per hour in colour, it is an ideal for graphical and technical environments.

Debs further stated that it also provides powerful print control capabilities and versatile production and vantages, including a wide range of print submission methods, dedicated RIPs to manage colour applications, scan and copy functionality and fully integrated stacking, folding and trimming.

“Wide-format applications that demand the highest level of quality, speed and cost-efficiency finding a perfect solution with the colour and black and white production print system KIP C7800,” he added.

The Technical Manager, Palaniappan Kosalraman, disclosed that it could handle paper ranging from 55 to 359 gsm. He also said that large volumes of highly-varied papers can be handled to realize print products with short lead time noting that stable production performances makes it possible to meet tight deadlines and supports the customer’s business expansion.

Kosalraman stated that the synergy between the newly designed large-diameter upper fusing system and toner enables realization of high speed printing of 100 sheets per minute for paper weights of 55-350gsm.

“Improvements to the fusing roller have enabled expansion of the fusing belt contact area, realizing greater optimisation to achieve speedy and homogenized heat transfer.

“With all options mounted, the paper feeding system can be expanded to handle 9 highly varied paper types with a maximum input paper capacity of 13,890 sheets and maximum output capacity of 10,000 sheets. Tasks such as paper replenishment and removal can be performed during printing, enabling the processing of high-volume catalog jobs with ease,” the technical manager stated.
