Basking in the euphoria of the premiere of two of her previous movies in London-Bi Ala and Adun-sultry actress, Tolulope Oke, who was the star actress in M-Net TV series, Zone 222, is yet again poised to premiere her new movie,Omiran, (Giant), in London.
Omiran, from the stable of Edge 17 Production, is a sequel to Oke’s 2015 production, Home Sick. According to the versatile actress, the premiere, which takes place next month, is being organized with the support of Naija FM Radio Station and Godfather Promotion, London.
Starring Femi Adebayo, Tolulope Oke, Funsho Adeolu, Muyideen Oladapo and Rose Odika, the movie, directed by Oladapo, was shot on locations in Ibadan. It runs for almost one and half hours and explores the theme of love and integrity.
Raphael Olakunle-Collins (Adebayo) is an under-world king pin dealing in illicit drugs. His seemingly-cool mien drastically changes when his love relationship with Ayinke (Oke) brings to fore his hidden secrets. The center no longer holds for Raphael as he tries desperately to cover his tracks and evade the suspicious searchlights of the law. The movie is Oke’s fourth production.
A graduate of Sociology from the University of Lagos, Oke also holds a diploma in Dramatic Arts from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife. Since debuting in 2006, she has featured in myriad movies including Dazzling Mirageby veteran movie director, Tunde Kelani; Eje, The Score, Kutu Kutu, Simisola,Awure Eni and Kosofe, to mention a few.
“I produced Omiran with a view to availing the public the opportunity to learn from a true life experience which gave me food for thought,” she said. “The movie is intriguing as the audience would find the characters, most especially, Raphael and Ayinke fascinating and learn a lot from their experiences.”
Reminiscing on how she started acting during her high school days in Ibadan Grammar School, Oke revealed that she belonged to a group known as The JollyGood Sisters and acted on stage severally to the admiration of her parents and peers.
“My childhood was fun,” she recalled. “I was the only girl among three children in my family. I had a wonderful up-bringing, although my parents were the strict type. When I finally chose acting as a career in spite of having a university degree in sociology, they gave me their blessings, having seen the talent inherent in me from childhood.”Oke explained that the London premiere is a prelude to the movie being released to fans in Nigeria.
